El Paso Man Charged with Threats Against Trump

PEORIA, Ill. – The grimy streets of El Paso, Illinois, were once again in the spotlight as 27-year-old Derek Lopez found himself ensnared in the sticky web of federal law enforcement. Lopez has been charged with making threats against none other than the sitting President of the United States, Donald J. Trump.

According to sources from the Department of Justice USAO, the 27-year-old was nabbed by the FBI on October 28, 2025, and is now staring down the barrel of a potentially five-year prison sentence if convicted.

The arraignment is set for Monday, November 3rd, at 2 p.m. sharp in the federal courthouse located in Peoria, Illinois. The case has been handed to Criminal Chief Darilynn J. Knauss, who will lead the prosecution against Lopez.

“This kind of behavior can never be tolerated,” said a spokesperson for the U.S. Secret Service, which was instrumental in the investigation alongside the FBI Springfield Field Office, El Paso Police Department, Woodford County Sheriff’s Office, and Illinois State University Police Department.

Despite the gravity of the charges against him, Lopez is entitled to his day in court, as members of the public are reminded that the charges in a complaint are merely accusations, and a defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.

This recent event underscores the ongoing vigilance required to protect the nation’s highest office. The grimy Times will continue to follow this story closely, bringing you the latest updates as they unfold.
