Aaron C. Collins, Methamphetamine Possession, Nebraska 2017
Lincoln, Nebraska – A Lincoln man was sentenced to 4 years in federal prison for possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine.
Aaron C. Collins, 37, of Lincoln, was found in possession of a large quantity of methamphetamine on two separate occasions.
On November 10, 2016, Collins was stopped for traffic violations and found in possession of four baggies containing a total of at least 75 grams (2 ⅔ ounces) of actual (pure) methamphetamine, along with $2,000 in cash, suspected drug records, and brass knuckles with folding knives on each end.
On January 27, 2017, Collins was arrested for driving on a suspended license and found in possession of four plastic bags containing a total of at least 18 grams of actual (pure) methamphetamine, two digital scales, plastic baggies, and a loaded handgun.
Collins admitted to purchasing the methamphetamine but denied ownership of the gun, claiming someone else left it in his car.
The case was investigated by the Lincoln/Lancaster County Drug Task Force.
On [January 27, 2017], Collins was sentenced by Chief United States District Judge John M. Gerrard to 4 years in federal prison on each of two counts of possession with intent to distribute five grams or more of methamphetamine actual (pure). The two sentences will run concurrently (at the same time). Following the prison term, Collins will serve 5 years on supervised release.
