Bismarck Man Sentenced for Sex Crime of Coercion and Enticement

A 29-year-old Bismarck man has been sentenced for coercing and enticing a minor to engage in sexual activity.

Aaron E. Masser, 29, of Bismarck, North Dakota, was sentenced to serve four years and nine months in federal prison, to be followed by five years of supervised release. He was also ordered to pay a $100 special assessment to the Crime Victim’s Fund.

According to court documents, Masser communicated with someone he believed to be a 13-year-old female through Facebook and text messaging between June and August 2012. In reality, the female was an undercover member of the Bismarck Police Department.

The investigation was led by the North Dakota Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, with assistance from Homeland Security Investigations and the Bismarck Police Department.

This case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched in May 2006 to combat child sexual exploitation and abuse. Assistant U.S. Attorney Gary Delorme prosecuted the case.
