Adam Hosie, Possession of Child Pornography, Pennsylvania 2018

A 25-year-old man from Freedom, Pennsylvania, has admitted to possessing child pornography, a federal crime that carries severe penalties.

Adam Hosie, 25, pleaded guilty to one count of possession of material depicting the sexual exploitation of a minor in federal court in Pittsburgh. The charge stems from an investigation that uncovered images and videos of minors engaging in sexually explicit conduct, some of whom had not yet reached the age of 12.

The court was advised that on July 12, 2018, Hosie possessed the images and videos in computer graphic files. This discovery led to his arrest and subsequent guilty plea.

Under federal law, Hosie faces a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison, a fine of $250,000, or both. The actual sentence will depend on the seriousness of the offense and any prior criminal history the defendant may have.

The case against Hosie was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Indiana County District Attorney's Office, and the Western Pennsylvania Violent Crimes Against Children Task Force.

Assistant United States Attorney Heidi M. Grogan is prosecuting the case on behalf of the government. The prosecution is part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched in May 2006 to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse.

Hosie's sentencing is scheduled for January 9, 2020, at 2 p.m. The case serves as a reminder of the seriousness of child exploitation and the importance of holding perpetrators accountable for their crimes.
