Adrian Petty, Interstate Travel for Prostitution, New York 2020
A Buffalo man has been sentenced to 9 years in prison for transporting a minor across state lines to engage in sex trafficking.
Adrian Petty, 29, was convicted of interstate travel for purposes of prostitution, and was sentenced to serve 108 months in prison by Senior U.S. District Judge William M. Skretny.
According to Assistant U.S. Attorney Maeve E. Huggins, Petty transported a 17-year-old victim from New York to Pennsylvania in September 2020, so that the victim could engage in commercial sex acts. Petty admits that he posted online commercial sex advertisements relating to the victim.
The sentencing is the result of an investigation by the Pittsburgh Office of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, under the direction of Special Agent-in-Charge Kevin P. Rojek, with the assistance of the Buffalo Office of the FBI, under the direction of Special Agent-in-Charge Matthew Miraglia, the Monroeville Police Department, under the direction of Chief Kenneth Cole, the Cheektowaga Police Department, under the direction of Chief Brian Coons, and the Erie Crime Analysis Center, under the direction of Director Dennis Richards.
Special assistance was provided by the U.S. Attorney's Office in the Western District of Pennsylvania and Assistant U.S. Attorney Rebecca Silinski.
The crime was discovered after an investigation by law enforcement agencies, who found evidence of Petty's involvement in sex trafficking.
Petty's sentence is a result of his conviction for interstate travel for purposes of prostitution, a federal crime that carries a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison.
The investigation and prosecution of this case are a testament to the commitment of law enforcement agencies to protecting victims of human trafficking and holding perpetrators accountable.
