A disturbing crime has rocked the quiet streets of Park Hills, Kentucky, as a local man admitted to making child pornography images and videos available for download over the internet.
Alan K. Newberry, 43, of Park Hills, Ky., pleaded guilty to distribution of child pornography on Thursday, September 17, 2015, in the Eastern District of Kentucky.
According to the Kentucky Attorney General’s Office, authorities identified child pornography files that had been made available for download on the internet and traced the source to Newberry’s computer, which was located at his home in Park Hills.
During a search of Newberry’s residence, authorities found a staggering 4,000 images and 700 videos of children engaged in sexually explicit conduct, many of which depicted prepubescent children and sadistic conduct.
The investigation was conducted by the Office of the Kentucky Attorney General, with the assistance of the U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Kentucky, Kerry B. Harvey, and Jack Conway, Kentucky Attorney General.
Newberry will be required to register as a sex offender for the remainder of his life as a direct result of his conviction.
Newberry is scheduled for sentencing on September 24, 2015, and faces a maximum of 20 years in prison.
The Court must consider the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and the federal statutes before imposing a sentence.
