Lincoln Man Sentenced for Receiving Child Pornography

Lincoln, NE - In a shocking case of online exploitation, Albert H. Hines, 50, of Lincoln, Nebraska, has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for receiving child pornography. United States Attorney Deborah R. Gilg announced the sentencing on [no date given] in Lincoln, Nebraska, before United States District Judge John M. Gerrard.

Hines will also be required to serve 10 years of supervised release once he is released from prison. He will be required to register as a convicted sex offender, a harsh penalty for his heinous crimes.

According to the investigation, Hines was identified as the owner of two email addresses that were uploading images of child pornography in the summer of 2012. Law enforcement received information from an internet-based media storage company, which led to the discovery of Hines' involvement.

A search warrant was executed at Hines' residence in Lincoln on May 14, 2014. During the search, Hines acknowledged possession of child pornography and admitted to trading it with other individuals. Forensic investigation of the computer equipment seized from his residence uncovered approximately 400 photos of child pornography, including images involving children under the age of 12.

This case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse launched in May 2006. Led by United States Attorneys' Offices and the Criminal Division's Child Exploitation and Obscenity Section, Project Safe Childhood marshals federal, state, and local resources to better locate, apprehend, and prosecute individuals who exploit children via the internet, as well as to identify and rescue victims.

The case was investigated by the Lincoln Police Department. Albert H. Hines is a native of Louisiana who moved to Nebraska after Hurricane Katrina.
