Alex Carrasquillo-Rosado, Cocaine Trafficking, New York 2021
A Syracuse man has been sentenced to 70 months in prison for his role in a cocaine trafficking operation.
Alex Carrasquillo-Rosado, 31, of Syracuse, was sentenced on November 2021 for possessing with intent to distribute six kilograms of cocaine seized from his car and house in November 2021.
The cocaine, worth an estimated amount, was discovered by law enforcement during a search of Carrasquillo-Rosado's vehicle and residence.
The investigation was conducted by the United States Postal Inspection Service (USPIS), Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), Internal Revenue Service - Criminal Investigation Division (IRS-CI), and the Syracuse Police Department.
Prosecutors say the evidence showed that Carrasquillo-Rosado was involved in a large-scale cocaine trafficking operation, which was dismantled as a result of the investigation.
The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Michael D. Gadarian.
The sentencing was announced by United States Attorney Carla B. Freedman, Ketty Larco-Ward, Inspector in Charge, United States Postal Inspection Service (USPIS), Boston Division, Matthew Scarpino, Acting Special Agent in Charge, Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), Buffalo Field Office, Thomas Fattorusso, Executive Special Agent in Charge, Internal Revenue Service - Criminal Investigation Division (IRS-CI), New York Field Office, and Joseph Cecile, Chief of Police, Syracuse Police Department.
The investigation also received assistance from the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), United States Border Patrol, and the Onondaga County Sheriff's Office.
