Alexander Aiello, Child Pornography Offense, Massachusetts 2026
A former Gloucester police officer has been sentenced to four years in federal prison for his role in a child pornography offense.
Alexander Aiello, 34, of Gloucester, Massachusetts, was sentenced on January 23, 2026, by U.S. Senior District Judge F. Dennis Saylor IV. Aiello pleaded guilty in October 2025 to one count of possession of child pornography.
According to authorities, Aiello accessed a website on the dark web on several occasions in 2024 and 2025, which was dedicated to downloading, viewing, advertising, and distributing child sexual abuse material (CSAM).
On April 28, 2025, a search of Aiello's person and residence resulted in the seizure of his cell phone, laptop, and a USB thumb drive. The examination of the devices revealed that a TOR Browser was installed and actively running on Aiello's laptop with evidence of downloaded files consistent with recent use.
Aiello's USB drive was found in his nightstand and was thoroughly encrypted, containing more than 200 files consistent with CSAM. The investigation was led by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Boston Division, with valuable assistance provided by the Gloucester Police Department.
United States Attorney Leah B. Foley and Ted E. Docks, Special Agent in Charge of the FBI's Boston Division, made the announcement today. Assistant U.S. Attorney Luke A. Goldworm, Project Safe Childhood Coordinator and a member of the Major Crimes Unit, prosecuted the case.
Aiello's sentence will be followed by five years of supervised release. The case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse.
