O'Fallon Man Sentenced to Federal Prison for Heroin Distribution

Alfred Vernon Reeves Jr., 43, of O'Fallon, Illinois, was sentenced to 67 months in federal prison for distribution of heroin and conspiracy to distribute heroin.

According to a recent investigation, Reeves sold heroin to a confidential informant on March 5, 2013, and continued to be involved in heroin distribution thereafter. Evidence revealed that on June 18, 2015, Reeves traveled from Chicago with co-defendants Lacy Snead and Ciera McNeil, transporting approximately 150 grams of heroin intended for distribution in the St. Louis metropolitan area.

Snead, 52, of Chicago, Illinois, was charged with participating in the same heroin deal and conspiracy to distribute heroin. Snead pled guilty to both counts on September 19, 2016, and faces a minimum of 5 to 40 years in prison. It is expected that Snead will be sentenced in March of 2017.

McNeil, 29, of East St. Louis, Illinois, was sentenced to 30 months in federal prison on October 11, 2016, for her role in transporting the 150 grams of heroin from Chicago on June 18, 2015.

The investigation into Reeves' activities was conducted by agents from the Drug Enforcement Administration and the Madison County Sheriff's Department. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Steven D. Weinhoeft.

In a superseding indictment, Reeves was charged with distributing heroin on March 5, 2013, and for participating in an ongoing conspiracy to distribute heroin over a three-year period of time. Records filed in court established that Reeves sold heroin to a confidential informant on March 5, 2013, and continued to be involved in heroin distribution thereafter.

Reeves' exact sentence is 67 months in federal prison, with no additional details provided on any fines or other penalties.
