Alfredo Juarez-Perez, Illegal Reentry, Wisconsin 2026
MADISON, WIS. – A man who repeatedly disregarded U.S. laws was sentenced to 54 months in federal prison for illegally reentering the United States. Alfredo Juarez-Perez, 55, of Monterey, Mexico, was convicted of the charge in April 2026.
According to prosecutors, Juarez-Perez was arrested in March 2025 after an anonymous tip led authorities to his location in Sun Prairie, Wisconsin. It was discovered during the arrest that he had failed to register as a sex offender as required. Further investigation revealed that he had been deported twice before – once in 2018 and again in 2021 – following convictions for illegal reentry in the Western District of Wisconsin and the Southern District of Texas.
Juarez-Perez also has a prior federal conviction for distribution of cocaine and has been convicted of sexual assault twice in Dane County, Wisconsin. His extensive criminal history, including drunk driving offenses, further demonstrates his disregard for U.S. laws and the safety of the community.
“Today’s sentence underscores that repeated criminal behavior, especially serious offenses like unlawful reentry, narcotics trafficking, and violent assault, will be met with decisive consequences,” said U.S. Attorney Chadwick M. Elgersma. “Juarez-Perez has shown a clear disregard for our laws and for the safety of the community. My office remains committed to working with our partners to ensure that those who persist in endangering the public are identified, apprehended, and held fully accountable.”
The charge against Juarez-Perez was the result of an investigation conducted by the Department of Homeland Security. Assistant U.S. Attorneys Julie Pfluger and Louis Glinzak prosecuted this case.
At the sentencing, U.S. District Judge Pamela Pepper noted that since Juarez-Perez first entered the United States in 1990, he had been convicted of multiple drunk driving offenses, distribution of cocaine, sexual assault, and had failed to maintain his sex offender registry. Judge Pepper stressed that these behaviors, along with Juarez-Perez’s criminal thinking, made him a danger to the community.
The case highlights the consequences of breaking U.S. laws and the importance of keeping communities safe. The office of U.S. Attorney Chadwick M. Elgersma will continue to work with law enforcement agencies to identify and prosecute those who endanger the public.
