Amado Becerra Lomas, Attempted Online Enticement of a Minor, Georgia 2016

A 33-year-old East Dublin man was sentenced to 10 years in prison for attempting to entice a minor online.

Amado Becerra Lomas, a citizen of Mexico, was sentenced in Macon, Georgia, after pleading guilty to the charge on February 18, 2016. He will serve 10 years in prison followed by a lifetime of supervision and registration as a sex offender.

The crime occurred between March 16, 2015, and March 21, 2015, when Lomas spoke online and via text message with an undercover agent posing as a 14-year-old girl. He traveled to a hotel in Macon, Georgia, where he was met by law enforcement officers and arrested.

Lomas admitted to the crime and acknowledged that he was at the hotel to have sex with a minor. Law enforcement officers found two condoms with him at the time of his arrest.

The case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the FBI's Metro Atlanta Child Exploitation Task Force, and the Bibb County Sheriff's Office. Assistant United States Attorney Beth Howard prosecuted the case for the United States.

The defendant's immigration status may be affected by the conviction.
