Amber Decker, Child Sexual Exploitation, New York 2019

A federal court in New York has sentenced Amber Decker, a 26-year-old woman from Antwerp, to 264 months (22 years) in federal prison for her part in the sexual exploitation and hands-on abuse of a two-year-old child.

The crime took place in Jefferson County, New York, in July and August 2018, while Decker was living in the county, and her husband, Logan Decker, was located in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Decker admitted to videotaping her sexual abuse of the child and uploading the video files to a cloud storage account for her husband to view.

Decker pleaded guilty to all counts of a seven-count indictment in June 2019 and was sentenced by United States District Judge David N. Hurd. In addition to her prison term, Decker will also be required to register as a sex offender for 20 years following her release.

This case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), Syracuse Resident Agency, the New York State Police, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, and the Sioux Falls, South Dakota Police Department. The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Lisa M. Fletcher, Project Safe Childhood Coordinator for the Northern District of New York.

Project Safe Childhood is a program launched in May 2006 by the government to combat the sexual exploitation of children. The program is designed to marshal federal, state, and local resources to better locate, apprehend, and prosecute individuals who exploit children via the Internet, as well as to identify and rescue victims.

Decker’s husband, Logan Decker, also pleaded guilty to the same offenses and is scheduled for sentencing on September 23, 2020.
