Anchorage\’s Gian Carlo Clemente Pangilinan, also known as “G,” has been sentenced to 10 years in federal prison for his role in the daring theft of 22 firearms from Granny\’s Guns, a federally licensed dealer in Anchorage.
The crime spree unfolded on June 6, 2019, when Pangilinan and three accomplices broke into Wrightway Auto Carriers to steal plates and files before making their way to Granny\’s Guns with a stolen Chevy Suburban. They forced entry and loaded the firearms into a stolen GMC Sierra pickup, setting fire to the vehicle in an attempt to destroy evidence.
During a high-speed chase, Pangilinan and another accomplice fired shots from a gold pickup, leading to their capture. Pangilinan and two co-conspirators later attempted to reclaim a stolen vehicle containing one of the guns, all four eventually indicted and arrested in October 2020.
Pangilinan\’s sentencing reflects U.S. Attorney S. Lane Tucker\’s commitment to public safety: “Stolen firearms are a threat to all Alaskans,” Tucker said. “Pangilinan\’s actions demonstrate how dangerous they are to our community.”
Co-conspirators, including Muna Junior Rode, Kao Chiang Saelee, and Hans Mikaele Wells, have also faced charges. The Anchorage Police Department and the ATF investigated the case, with Assistant U.S. Attorney Jennifer Ivers prosecuting.
This case is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods, a DOJ initiative aimed at reducing violent crime through comprehensive solutions.
