A shocking case of wire fraud and tax evasion has come to light in Louisville, Kentucky, as suspended attorney Andrew Clooney, 55, and his wife Christel Clooney, 51, were sentenced in federal court for their crimes.

According to court documents, Andrew Clooney, who practiced as a personal injury attorney through the Clooney Law Office, and his wife Christel, who served as the office manager, used funds that belonged to clients of the law office for personal expenses between August 2016 and October 2018. The couple made approximately $426,098 in income in 2016, on which they owed approximately $107,140 in federal income taxes, but failed to file a tax return for that year.

The United States Secret Service and the Internal Revenue Service, Criminal Investigation, investigated the case, which led to the sentencing of Andrew and Christel Clooney. Andrew was sentenced to 2 years and 9 months in prison, followed by 2 years of supervised release, while Christel received a sentence of 2 years and 3 months in prison, also followed by 2 years of supervised release.

The couple was also ordered to pay $663,965.16 in restitution to former clients, a staggering sum that highlights the extent of their crimes. There is no parole in the federal system, and the Clooneys will have to face the consequences of their actions.
