Presque Isle Man Pleads Guilty To Bath Salts Distribution Conspiracy

A 34-year-old man from Presque Isle, Maine, has pleaded guilty to a bath salts distribution conspiracy charge in U.S. District Court. Andrew Grivois, 34, will face up to 20 years in prison and a $1,000,000 fine for his role in obtaining and distributing bath salts between June 2012 and June 2014.

According to court records, Grivois conspired with others in Aroostook County to obtain and distribute bath salts. On multiple occasions, Grivois ordered bath salts over the internet from China for personal use and to sell to other conspirators.

U.S. Attorney Thomas E. Delahanty II announced Grivois' guilty plea in a statement. The case was investigated by the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration and the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency, with assistance from the Aroostook County Sheriff’s Department and the United States Postal Inspection Service.

Grivois will be sentenced after the completion of a presentence investigation report by the U.S. Probation Office. The investigation and subsequent plea deal bring an end to a conspiracy that spanned nearly two years.

The case serves as a reminder of the ongoing efforts to combat the illicit trade of synthetic substances in Maine. Bath salts, in particular, have been linked to various health issues and other crimes.

Grivois will face the consequences of his actions in the coming months as he awaits sentencing. The U.S. Attorney's Office will continue to prioritize cases involving the distribution of illicit substances.
