Andrew Wilbur, Possessing Child Pornography, New York 2024

A Cayuga County man has been sentenced to 12 years in prison for possessing child pornography, according to the FBI.

Andrew Wilbur, 25, was sentenced on May 26, 2024, in the Northern District of New York.

Wilbur had previously served a state sentence for a 2019 child pornography conviction in Cayuga County Court.

According to authorities, between January and May of 2024, Wilbur possessed child pornography images and videos depicting children as young as 4 years old being sexually abused.

The files were maintained on both an online social communication platform and on his cellular telephone.

In addition to the 12-year sentence, Wilbur was ordered to serve 15 years of supervised release following his term of incarceration, and to forfeit the cellular telephone he used to commit the offense.

Wilbur will also be required to continue to register as a sex offender.

United States Attorney John A. Sarcone III stated, 'This arrest continues to demonstrate my office’s close cooperation with our state and local partners to prosecute offenders to the fullest extent of the law, especially those who repeatedly victimize children.'

FBI Special Agent in Charge Craig L. Tremaroli said, 'This sentence sends a clear message that our office will use every resource available to bring individuals who repeatedly victimize innocent children to justice.'

The FBI’s Child Exploitation and Human Trafficking Task Force investigated this case, which was initiated by the New York State Police, and the Cayuga County District Attorney’s Office.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Lisa Fletcher prosecuted the case.
