Crime Pays, But Not for Angela Frase

In a shocking turn of events, 60-year-old Angela Frase of Sterling, Ohio, has been sentenced to 24 months in prison for her role in a brazen insurance claim fraud scheme.

According to court documents, Frase devised a scheme to defraud a homeowner's insurance company by submitting false claims for property losses and damages. The scheme began on July 2, 2019, when Frase called fire emergency services to report a fire in her home, which was later determined to be incendiary in nature.

On August 6, 2019, Frase returned to her home and started a fire, which investigators later learned through her cellphone location data. The Ohio State Fire Marshal determined that the cause of the fire was incendiary in nature, and Frase was subsequently charged with four counts of mail fraud for attempting to swindle money from the homeowner's insurance company.

Frase pleaded guilty to the charges and was sentenced to 24 months in prison by U.S. District Judge Dan Aaron Polster. In addition to her prison sentence, Frase was also ordered to pay restitution in the amount of $327,072.

The case was investigated by the FBI Cleveland Division, Wayne County Sheriff's Office, and Ohio's Division of State Fire Marshal. Assistant U.S. Attorney Scott Zarzycki for the Northern District of Ohio prosecuted the case.

Frase's scheme was designed to deceive the insurance company and line her pockets with cash. However, her plan was ultimately foiled by investigators who pieced together the evidence and brought her to justice.

As a result of her crimes, Frase will spend the next 24 months behind bars, a fate that may have been worse than the one she initially devised for the insurance company.

The case serves as a reminder that crime does not pay, and those who attempt to deceive and swindle others will ultimately be held accountable.

Frase's prison sentence is a testament to the dedication and hard work of law enforcement agencies and prosecutors who worked tirelessly to bring her to justice.
