Angelia Garcia, Assault with a Dangerous Weapon, New Mexico 2024

ALBUQUERQUE, New Mexico - A Shiprock woman admitted to assaulting and stabbing another woman in a shocking display of violence.

According to court documents, on November 21, 2024, Angelia Garcia, 35, an enrolled member of the Navajo Nation, repeatedly stabbed Jane Doe with the intent to cause bodily harm.

Garcia pleaded guilty to assault with a dangerous weapon, a serious crime that carries a maximum sentence of up to ten years in prison.

At sentencing, Garcia faces the very real possibility of spending the next decade behind bars. Upon her release from prison, she will be subject to three years of supervised release.

The case was investigated by the Farmington Resident Agency of the FBI's Albuquerque Field Office, with assistance from the Navajo Nation Department of Investigation and Department of Criminal Investigations.
