Antasia Babcock, Meth Charges, New York 2020

Buffalo, N.Y. - A Jamestown woman has been indicted on serious methamphetamine charges, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office. Antasia Babcock, 28, has been charged with narcotics conspiracy, possessing with intent to distribute methamphetamine, maintaining a premises for drug use and distribution, and possessing with intent to distribute methamphetamine on premises where an individual under 18 was present and resided.

The charges carry a mandatory minimum penalty of 10 years in prison, a maximum of life, and a $10,000,000 fine. The indictment is the result of an investigation by the Jamestown Metro Drug Task Force and the Drug Enforcement Administration.

On October 16, 2020, the Jamestown Metro Drug Task Force executed a New York State search warrant at Babcock's Wescott Street residence. During the search, law enforcement officers seized one pound of suspected methamphetamine hydrochloride, drug paraphernalia, and approximately $62,000 in cash.

The defendant was arraigned this morning before U.S. Magistrate Judge Jeremiah J. McCarthy and was released on conditions. Assistant U.S. Attorneys Joshua A. Violanti and Misha Coulson are handling the case.

The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.

The investigation was led by the Jamestown Metro Drug Task Force, under the direction of Jamestown Police Chief Timothy Jackson, and the Drug Enforcement Administration, under the direction of Special Agent-in-Charge Ray Donovan, New York Field Division.
