A Syracuse man has pleaded guilty to federal drug and firearm crimes, according to a recent guilty plea. Anthony Beverly, age 34, most recently of Syracuse, pled guilty today to possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance and possession of a firearm and ammunition by a prohibited person.
The charges stem from an investigation into a stash of firearms and controlled substances found in Beverly's Onondaga County apartment on October 26, 2023. Beverly admitted to possessing three pistols, extended ammunition magazines, and approximately 615 rounds of ammunition of various calibers at the time.
As part of his guilty plea, Beverly also admitted to possessing various controlled substances, including cocaine base, powder cocaine, N,N-Dimethylpentylone (sold as “molly”), fentanyl, and methamphetamine, which he intended to distribute to others. This is in addition to his prior conviction for possession of a forged instrument in the first degree in 2015, for which he was sentenced to 2 to 6 years’ imprisonment.
The investigation was conducted by the FBI and the Syracuse Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorney Matthew J. McCrobie is prosecuting the case.
Beverly faces a total of up to 35 years in federal prison, a total maximum fine of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), a program aimed at reducing violent crime and gun violence.
