Dallas County Man Sentenced to 37 Months for Possession of a Firearm After Conviction of a Felony

Mobile, AL - In a shocking turn of events, a Dallas County man has been sentenced to 37 months in prison for possession of a firearm after conviction of a felony. Anthony Crusoe, a 42-year-old resident of Mobile, Alabama, was found guilty of possessing a Taurus 9mm pistol.

According to court documents, Crusoe entered a guilty plea on March 28, 2019, and admitted to knowingly possessing a firearm after being convicted of a felony. The conviction was for Unlawful Possession of Marijuana 1st Degree on February 13, 2003.

The investigation into Crusoe's activities began when law enforcement officers attempted to execute an arrest warrant on August 22, 2018. Officers traveled to Crusoe's home in Selma, Alabama, where they observed him attempting to flee with a blue duffel bag containing the Taurus pistol.

Crusoe was eventually apprehended and charged with possession of a firearm after conviction of a felony. He was found to have given $260 to Mary Safford, who purchased the firearm for him after he picked it out and told her which firearm to buy.

Officer of the Selma, AL Police Department, along with special agents of the ATF, investigated the case and brought it to the U.S. Attorney's Office for prosecution. Assistant United States Attorney, Gina S. Vann, was assigned to the case.
