Published September 3, 2019

A shocking case of heroin distribution has rocked the quiet streets of Monongalia County in West Virginia, with a Michigan man admitting to selling the deadly substance.

Anthony Foy, a 41-year-old man from Detroit, Michigan, known to his associates as 'Duke,' has pleaded guilty to one count of Aiding and Abetting Distribution of Heroin. The crime, which took place in October 2017, has left many in the community reeling.

Foy's guilty plea comes as a result of a thorough investigation by the Mon Metro Drug & Violent Crimes Task Force, a HIDTA-funded initiative, and the West Virginia State Police.

According to court documents, Foy faces a maximum sentence of 20 years incarceration and a fine of up to $1,000,000. However, the actual sentence imposed will be determined by the Federal Sentencing Guidelines, taking into account the seriousness of the offense and Foy's prior criminal history, if any.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Zelda E. Wesley is prosecuting the case on behalf of the government. U.S. Magistrate Judge Michael Aloi presided over the proceedings.

Foy's guilty plea marks a significant victory for law enforcement in West Virginia, who have been working tirelessly to combat the scourge of heroin distribution in the state.

The case serves as a stark reminder of the dangers of heroin and the devastating impact it can have on individuals and communities.
