In a shocking turn of events, Anthony Hargraves, a 32-year-old resident of Wilmington, Delaware, was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole for his role in a brutal triple homicide that shook the community in 2012.
On October 9, 2012, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Delaware filed a complaint against Hargraves, charging him with a string of violent crimes, including three counts of murder in aid of racketeering, one count of conspiracy to commit murder in aid of racketeering, and three counts of using a firearm during a crime of violence.
The charges stemmed from a violent altercation that occurred on October 5, 2012, in which Hargraves allegedly shot and killed three men at a residence in Wilmington. The victims were identified as 23-year-old Jamal Lewis, 25-year-old Marquise Brown, and 28-year-old Marcus Jones.
After a lengthy investigation by the FBI and local law enforcement, Hargraves was arrested and charged with the crimes. His trial began in February 2014, and after a month-long proceeding, the jury delivered a guilty verdict on all counts.
On March 21, 2014, U.S. District Court Judge Sue L. Robinson sentenced Hargraves to life in prison, finding that he had committed a heinous crime that had left a trail of destruction and heartbreak in its wake.
The case served as a grim reminder of the devastating consequences of violent crime and the importance of holding perpetrators accountable for their actions.
