Farmington Man Charged with Oxycodone Distribution Offenses

Anthony Harris, 51, of Farmington, has been accused of selling his prescribed oxycodone pills over the course of more than three years. The indictment was returned on June 1, and Harris was arrested today.

According to statements made in court, Harris was prescribed oxycodone but unlawfully sold his prescribed pills. He appeared via videoconference before U.S. Magistrate Judge Robert A. Richardson and was released on a $50,000 bond.

The indictment charges Harris with four counts of possession with intent to distribute, and distribution of, oxycodone, and one count of conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute, and distribute, oxycodone. Each charge carries a maximum term of 20 years in prison.

Acting U.S. Attorney Leonard C. Boyle stressed that an indictment is not evidence of guilt. Charges are only allegations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.

This matter is being investigated by the Drug Enforcement Administration's New Haven Tactical Diversion Squad and the Bristol Police Department. The Tactical Diversion Squad includes officers from the Bristol, East Windsor, Hamden, New Britain, West Haven, Newington, Manchester, Glastonbury, and Watertown Police Departments.

The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Conor M. Reardon and Nathaniel J. Gentile.
