Anthony Michael Grant, Methamphetamine Distribution, Oklahoma 2023

Published October 11, 2019

Muskogee, OK - In a major blow to Oklahoma's methamphetamine epidemic, 35-year-old Porum man Anthony Michael Grant was sentenced to 121 months in federal prison for his role in distributing the highly addictive substance. Grant was found guilty of Possession With Intent To Distribute Methamphetamine, a felony offense under Title 21 of the United States Code.

The charges stem from an investigation by the Porum Police Department, the McIntosh County Sheriff's Office, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation, which revealed that Grant knowingly and intentionally possessed with the intent to distribute 50 grams or more of methamphetamine on October 28, 2018.

According to United States Attorney Brian J. Kuester, rural Oklahoma has been severely impacted by the devastating effects of methamphetamine, with overdose deaths on the rise. "Overdose deaths caused by methamphetamine are on the rise and we must continue to diligently pursue drug dealers," Kuester said.

The FBI's Safe Trails Task Force played a crucial role in the investigation, working together with local law enforcement to make a positive impact in Eastern Oklahoma. "The trafficking and use of methamphetamines have severely impacted communities across Oklahoma," said Special Agent in Charge Melissa Godbold of the FBI's Oklahoma City Field Office.

U.S. District Judge Ronald A. White presided over the hearing, while Assistant U.S. Attorney Clay Compton represented the United States. Grant was sentenced to 121 months in federal prison, followed by 5 years of supervised release.

Grant's conviction serves as a reminder of the serious consequences of methamphetamine distribution, and the importance of continued efforts to combat the state's drug epidemic. "Law enforcement works best when we work together," Kuester emphasized.

The case highlights the need for a multi-faceted approach to addressing the root causes of addiction and the devastating impact of methamphetamine on Oklahoma communities.
