Anthony Molinero, Theft of Government Funds, Pennsylvania 2024

A Philadelphia man has been charged with stealing government funds intended for his deceased mother.

Anthony Molinero, 70, of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, was charged by Information with one count of theft of government funds, announced Acting United States Attorney Louis D. Lappen.

According to the Information, Molinero received retirement benefits intended for his mother, after her death in May 2000 until March 2014. The defendant's alleged actions resulted in a loss to the government of approximately $150,999.

If convicted, the defendant faces a term of imprisonment, a 3-year period of supervised release, restitution to the government of $150,999, a $250,000 fine, and a $100 special assessment.

The case was investigated by the Social Security Administration, Office of Inspector General, and is being prosecuted by Special Assistant United States Attorney Christopher E. Parisi.
