Antonio Marquis Roddy, Violent Robbery, Florida 2018

Tampa, Florida – In a shocking turn of events, Antonio Marquis Roddy, a/k/a “Lil Head” (32, Apopka), was sentenced to 25 years and 4 months in federal prison for his involvement in a violent robbery organization.

Roddy had previously pleaded guilty on September 12, 2018, to conspiracy to commit robbery, robbery, and using or carrying a firearm in furtherance of a violent crime. The charges stem from a string of armed robberies and burglaries committed by Roddy and his coconspirators in Polk County.

According to court documents, Roddy and his coconspirators, including Marion Dwight, Jr., Michael James Baker, and Fredrick James Burney, Jr., carried out at least 14 armed robberies and 4 armed burglaries between May 2015 and July 20, 2017. The group's crimes often involved discharging and brandishing firearms, leaving a trail of fear and destruction in their wake.

One particularly egregious incident occurred in January 2016, when Roddy and his cohorts forced their way into a residence in Kissimmee in search of narcotics and cash. The victims, three women and three children, were held at gunpoint, with Roddy and his accomplices stealing approximately $95,000 in cash. The group later attempted to rob a residence in Lakeland, but a shoot-out ensued when the victim returned home, leaving Roddy injured and fleeing for his life.

Roddy's coconspirators have already received their sentences: Marion Dwight, Jr. was sentenced to 23 years, Michael James Baker to 19 years and 6 months, Fredrick James Burney, Jr. to 30 years, Bradney Henry McGary to 19 years and 2 months, Sherrod Raeshad Gordon to 29 years and 8 months, Jevin Michael Stone to 23 years and 5 months, and Shamar Lajuan Thomas to 35 years.

With Roddy's sentencing, the Polk County-based criminal organization is now fully accounted for. The Federal Bureau of Investigation investigated the case, with Assistant United States Attorney Lisa M. Thelwell handling the prosecution.
