Landon Dashawn Wilson, a 28-year-old from Tallahassee, Florida, was busted for attempting to enter an apartment without permission, sparking a police investigation that uncovered a stash of marijuana and a loaded AR-type pistol. The incident occurred when the Tallahassee Police Department responded to a call regarding a possible burglary or assault at an apartment, where witnesses reported Wilson trying to enter without permission. A search of his bookbag revealed a jar containing approximately 113 grams of marijuana, 81 baggies, and the loaded pistol.
Wilson, a convicted felon with prior convictions for burglary, drug possession, and firearm offenses, was prohibited from possessing firearms. His guilty plea to possession with intent to distribute marijuana, unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition by a convicted felon, and possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking offense, marks a significant victory for law enforcement in their efforts to eradicate armed drug dealers from the streets of Tallahassee.
The investigation was led by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the Tallahassee Police Department, as part of Operation Take Back America, a national initiative launched under the leadership of President Donald J. Trump and acting Attorney General Todd Blanche to combat drug trafficking.
Wilson faces up to 5 years’ imprisonment on the possession with intent to distribute marijuana count, up to 5 years’ imprisonment on the possession of a firearm by a convicted felon count, and not less than 5 years’ imprisonment on the possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking offense count consecutive to other sentences imposed. The guilty plea is a testament to the aggressive prosecutions of armed drug dealers by the US Attorney’s office, which is committed to delivering on the promise of safe, drug-free communities.
