Aurora Elizabeth Quinn, Meth Distribution, Montana 2019
A Missoula woman was sentenced to prison for distributing methamphetamine in Montana.
Aurora Elizabeth Quinn, 37, pleaded guilty in December 2019 to distribution of methamphetamine. On May 8, 2019, Quinn, acting on behalf of another person, distributed about 12 grams of meth to a confidential source. The source had talked to the individual prior to the deal, who indicated that Quinn would have the drugs. The source then called Quinn, and the two arranged to meet. The source paid Quinn $500 for a package of meth.
U.S. District Judge Dana L. Christensen presided over the case. Assistant U.S. Attorney Tara Elliott prosecuted the case, which was investigated by the FBI and the Montana Regional Violent Crime Task Force.
This case is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods, a U.S. initiative to reduce violent crime. According to the FBI's Uniform Crime Reports, violent crime in Montana increased by 36% from 2013 to 2018.
Through PSN, federal, tribal, state and local law enforcement partners in Montana focus on violent crime driven by methamphetamine trafficking, armed robbers, firearms offenses and violent offenders with outstanding warrants.
Quinn was sentenced to one year and one day in prison followed by three years of supervised release. The prison time and supervised release are the result of her guilty plea to distribution of methamphetamine.
The case is a reminder of the ongoing struggle with methamphetamine in Montana. Law enforcement agencies will continue to work together to reduce the flow of meth into the state and to bring those responsible to justice.
