Bailey Colletta, Perjury, Missouri 2019

Published July 15, 2021

In a shocking case of police brutality and corruption, Bailey Colletta, a 28-year-old St. Louis resident, was sentenced to three years of probation and two consecutive weekends of imprisonment.

Colletta, a former St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department officer, pleaded guilty in September 2019 to making false statements to a federal grand jury about her knowledge of the arrest and assault of a fellow undercover officer.

The assault occurred in 2017 during protests in downtown St. Louis, which were sparked by the acquittal of a former police officer on a state murder charge.

Colletta was assigned to the protest detail and witnessed the assault, but she provided false and misleading statements to the grand jury regarding her knowledge of the incident.

Her co-defendant, Randy Hays, was sentenced to a 52-month term of imprisonment on Tuesday, while co-defendant Dustin Boone awaits sentencing for aiding and abetting the deprivation of the victim officer's civil rights under the color of law.

The case is being investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, with First Assistant United States Attorney Carrie Costantin and Assistant United States Attorney Rob Livergood handling the matter.

Colletta's sentencing marks a significant blow to the St. Louis police department, which has faced criticism for its handling of the protests and the assault of the undercover officer.

The case highlights the need for accountability within law enforcement agencies and the importance of holding officers accountable for their actions.

In related news, co-defendant Christopher Myers faces a charge of destruction of evidence related to the arrest and assault of the victim police officer.
