NEW ORLEANS – On July 16, 2026, U.S. District Judge Carl J. Barbier sentenced BARBARA AUGUSTIN, age 59, of Franklinton, Louisiana, to three (3) years probation, ordered her to pay restitution of $43,477 and a $100 mandatory special assessment fee, announced U.S. Attorney David I Courcelle.
According to the Department of Justice, Augustin was found guilty of Social Security fraud, which is a federal offense. The charges against her were related to her receipt of Social Security benefits to which she was not entitled.
The sentencing was a result of an investigation by the Social Security Administration, Office of the Inspector General, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
