Former VA Chief of Staff Convicted of Distributing Controlled Substance in Ohio

CINCINNATI – In a shocking turn of events, Barbara K. Temeck, 67, of Cincinnati, was convicted of one count of distributing a controlled substance on November 2, 2013. This federal crime carries a punishment of up to five years in prison for Schedule IV drugs such as Diazepam.

The verdict was reached after a jury trial before U.S. District Judge Michael R. Barrett. Temeck, who served as the Chief of Staff at the VA Medical Center in Cincinnati, was found guilty of illegally dispensing Diazepam on the aforementioned date.

Temeck's conviction stems from a federal grand jury indictment in May 2017. The VA-OIG, along with the U.S. Attorney's office, conducted a thorough investigation into the matter.
