Denham Springs Man Pleads Guilty to Distributing Child Pornography

A disturbing case of child exploitation has come to light in Louisiana, as 56-year-old Barry Paul Vining of Denham Springs has pleaded guilty to distributing child pornography.

According to the U.S. Attorney's office, Vining knowingly distributed two images of child pornography on November 27, 2022, when he uploaded them to a file-sharing service accessed via the internet.

This allowed other users of the service around the world to download and share the images. At the time of distribution, Vining also possessed files containing numerous images and videos of child pornography.

Vining's guilty plea is a significant development in the ongoing fight against child exploitation. The U.S. Attorney's office has vowed to remain steadfast in the prosecution of this horrific crime, which preys on the most vulnerable members of our society.

The case was investigated by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security - Homeland Security Investigations and is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Paul L. Pugliese.

This matter was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse. Launched in May 2006, Project Safe Childhood marshals federal, state, and local resources to better locate, apprehend, and prosecute individuals who exploit children via the internet, as well as to identify and rescue victims.
