Bolton Case, Violent Crime, Maryland 2014

Brian Christopher Bolton, a 35-year-old resident of Baltimore, Maryland, was at the center of a federal criminal case that shook the community in 2014.

The case, filed on December 24, 2014, in the U.S. District Court for the District of Maryland, involved several violent charges, including 18 U.S.C. 1111: Murder, 18 U.S.C. 924: Use of a firearm during and in relation to, and possession of a firearm in furtherance of, a crime of violence, and 18 U.S.C. 1958: Use of interstate commerce facilities in the commission of murder-for-hire.

Bolton was accused of committing the crimes in December 2013, but was not apprehended until 2014. The case drew significant media attention due to the severity of the charges and the notoriety of the defendant.

On March 16, 2016, Bolton entered a guilty plea in the U.S. District Court for the District of Maryland. The plea agreement was reached after lengthy negotiations between the prosecution and defense teams.

The outcome of the case was a 40-year federal prison sentence for Bolton. The sentence was handed down by U.S. District Judge Richard D. Bennett on July 22, 2016.
