Brandon Gregory Wilder, Distribution of Child Pornography, Washington 2013

In a shocking case of child exploitation, Brandon Gregory Wilder, age 21, of Kennewick, Washington, has been sentenced to 12 years in federal prison for distributing child pornography.

The sentencing took place on July 23, 2013, after Wilder had previously pleaded guilty to the charges. According to the court proceedings, Wilder's computer was found to contain 237 videos and 64 still images of child pornography, some of which depicted minors in bondage, and a number of the images were of children under the age of 12 years.

The investigation was conducted by the United States Secret Service, who executed a search warrant at Wilder's residence on April 5, 2012, as part of an online undercover investigation into the distribution of child pornography.

Wilder's sentence is a significant blow to the distribution of child pornography in the region. As part of the Project Safe Childhood initiative, the United States Attorney's Office in the Eastern District of Washington continues to prioritize the investigation and prosecution of child pornography crimes.

Project Safe Childhood is a nationwide initiative launched in May 2006 to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse. The program marshals federal, state, and local resources to locate, apprehend, and prosecute individuals who sexually exploit children, and to identify and rescue victims.

The case was prosecuted by Stephanie J. Lister, an Assistant United States Attorney and PSC Coordinator for the Eastern District of Washington. The investigation was conducted by the United States Secret Service.
