Brandon J. Britt, Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, Indiana 2019

A Fort Wayne man has been sentenced to 84 months in prison for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Brandon J. Britt, age 33, was sentenced before U.S. District Court Judge Holly A. Brady for the crime, announced U.S. Attorney Kirsch.

According to documents in the case, on the evening of April 3, 2019, Britt was the passenger in a vehicle which was stopped for a traffic violation in downtown Fort Wayne, Indiana. The officer conducting the traffic stop observed a handgun protruding from Britt’s pocket.

The gun was loaded with a round in the chamber. Britt had previously been convicted of multiple felony offenses, including Dealing in Cocaine or a Narcotic Drug, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Serious Violent Felon and Robbery.

The case was investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, Indiana State Police and the Fort Wayne Police Department.

The case was handled by Assistant United States Attorney Sarah E. Nokes.

Britt was sentenced to 84 months in prison followed by 3 years of supervised release.
