CLARKSBURG, WEST VIRGINIA – A Monongalia County man was sentenced to 36 months in prison for a firearms charge, announced U.S. Attorney Bill Powell.
Brendan Regan Boddie, 29, of Morgantown, West Virginia, was sentenced to 36 months incarceration for one count of “Unlawful Possession of Firearms by Person Convicted of Domestic Violence Crime” in May 2019, Powell stated.
Boddie, who had previously been convicted of domestic violence, admitted to having two pistols, two rifles, and one shotgun in April 2018 in Monongalia County, as part of his guilty plea in May 2019.
The case was brought as part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), an evidence-based program aimed at reducing violent crime. U.S. District Judge Thomas S. Kleeh presided over the case.
Boddie's sentence reflects the gravity of his crime, and we hope it serves as a warning to others who would engage in similar behavior, Powell said.
The U.S. Attorney's Office will continue to work tirelessly to protect the community and hold accountable those who engage in violent crime, Powell added.
The case was brought as part of the Department's violent crime reduction efforts, and through PSN, a broad spectrum of stakeholders work together to identify the most pressing violent crime problems in the community and develop comprehensive solutions to address them.
