Brent Rawson, Receipt of Child Pornography, Iowa 2020

Council Bluffs man Brent Rawson, age 55, was sentenced to 15 years in prison for his role in a child pornography case.

A federal court in Council Bluffs, Iowa, on Monday, July 13, 2020 handed down the sentence to Rawson after he was found guilty of receipt of child pornography.

According to court documents, the charges against Rawson stemmed from an investigation initiated by two internet service providers who reported a user uploading suspected images of child pornography to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.

Law enforcement executed a search warrant at Rawson's Council Bluffs residence, where they seized a laptop, cell phone, and two hard drives as evidence. Forensic analysis of the devices revealed that Rawson had possessed and received numerous images and videos of child pornography.

The investigation was conducted by the Douglas County Sheriff Office and the Omaha Federal Bureau of Investigations Child Exploitation and Human Trafficking Task Force. The case was prosecuted by the United States Attorney's Office for the Southern District of Iowa.

Rawson was also ordered to serve eight years of supervised release following his prison term and pay a $100 special assessment to the Crime Victims' Fund.
