Bruno J. Haney II, Heroin and Fentanyl Trafficking, New York 2019
Bruno J. Haney II, a notorious Lockport drug trafficker, has been brought to justice. Haney, 35, was convicted of conspiring to possess with intent to distribute, and distributing, heroin, fentanyl, and butyryl fentanyl, in a case that spanned multiple residences and several law enforcement agencies.
A search warrant executed at Haney’s residence in June 2017 uncovered several bags containing butyryl fentanyl, hydrocodone, acetaminophen, and alprazolam pills, along with $515 in cash and drug paraphernalia. This was just the beginning of a series of searches and seizures that would ultimately lead to Haney’s downfall.
In January 2019, Haney was arrested, and a search warrant was executed at a second residence. During that search, investigators recovered quantities of fentanyl, a mixture of heroin and fentanyl, marijuana, $978 in cash, and drug paraphernalia. Haney was released from custody in February 2019, but his freedom was short-lived, as another search warrant was executed at his residence on March 7, 2019, revealing a bag containing a mixture of heroin and fentanyl, $373 in cash, and a digital scale.
The sentencing of Bruno J. Haney II comes as a result of a joint investigation by the Niagara County Drug Task Force and the Niagara County Sheriff’s Department, under the direction of Sheriff Michael Filicetti, the Orleans County Major Felony Crime Task Force, under the direction of Sheriff Christopher Bourke, Homeland Security Investigations, under the direction of Special Agent-in-Charge Matthew Scarpino, the Drug Enforcement Administration, under the direction of Special Agent-in-Charge Frank Tarentino, New York Field Division, and the Lockport Police Department, under the direction of Chief Steven Abbott. Additional assistance was provided by the Niagara County and Orleans County District Attorneys Offices.
Haney was sentenced to serve 184 months in prison by U.S. District Judge John L. Sinatra, Jr. This is a significant blow to the Lockport drug trafficking organization that Haney led, and it serves as a reminder that law enforcement agencies are committed to taking down those who engage in illicit activities.
The investigation and subsequent sentencing of Bruno J. Haney II demonstrate the dedication of local, state, and federal agencies to combating the opioid epidemic and holding those responsible accountable for their actions.
