Bryan S. Peterson, Distributing Child Pornography, Wisconsin 2024
A Green Bay man, Bryan S. Peterson, has been sentenced to 60 months' imprisonment for distributing sexually explicit images of minors online, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Eastern District of Wisconsin.
Peterson, 46, a former high school football coach and Oneida Tribal Court Bailiff, was sentenced on August 13, 2024, for distributing child pornography via an online account. Investigators identified the account in early 2024 and executed a search warrant at his residence on February 21, 2024, recovering electronic devices containing sexualized conversations and images of child pornography.
The case was brought as part of the U.S. government's Project Safe Childhood initiative, a nationwide effort to combat child sexual exploitation and abuse. Project Safe Childhood marshals federal, state, and local resources to locate, apprehend, and prosecute individuals who exploit children online and identify and rescue victims.
Bryan S. Peterson was sentenced to 60 months' imprisonment, followed by 7 years on supervised release, and must register as a sex offender under state and federal law. The case was investigated by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Daniel R. Humble.
The U.S. Attorney's Office for the Eastern District of Wisconsin, led by Gregory J. Haanstad, announced the sentence. Senior U.S. District Judge William C. Griesbach emphasized the serious nature of the offense and the need to deter Peterson and others from committing similar crimes.
Peterson's crimes are a stark reminder of the dangers of child pornography and the importance of protecting our children from exploitation. The public can help by reporting any suspected cases of child exploitation to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children.
