Published November 8, 2019

A brazen robbery in the parking lot of the Carl T. Curtis Medical Center in Macy, Nebraska, has resulted in an 18-month prison sentence for Bryant Freemont, Jr.

On the morning of July 14, 2018, Freemont approached the victim, an emergency medical technician, as she was preparing to drive home from her shift. He demanded money from the victim and stated that he had a gun.

After the victim initially refused to provide any money, Freemont reached into his waistband, causing the victim to believe he was pulling out a firearm. Fearing for her safety, she handed over the $20 she had on her.

Freemont then fled the scene, but later admitted to law enforcement that he had committed the robbery and did not actually have a firearm.

The case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation. United States Attorney Joe Kelly announced the sentence in federal court in Omaha, Nebraska.

United States District Court Judge Robert F. Rossiter, Jr., sentenced Freemont to 18 months of imprisonment. There is no parole in the federal system.

After completing his term of imprisonment, Freemont will begin a three-year term of supervised release.
