Caden Jay Christman, Fentanyl Trafficking, Oregon 2025

Published July 30, 2025

A Keizer man has been sentenced to 11 years in federal prison for trafficking over 17 pounds of fentanyl and methamphetamine.

Caden Jay Christman, 29, was sentenced to 135 months in federal prison and five years' supervised release for his role in the trafficking operation, which spanned Oregon and Montana.

According to court documents, Christman was arrested on February 21, 2024, after law enforcement officers in Powell County, Montana, conducted a traffic stop and searched his vehicle. The search revealed multiple hidden compartments containing nine pounds of methamphetamine, over 5,000 fentanyl pills, approximately $17,000 in cash, and two loaded firearms.

The investigation continued with the execution of search warrants at Christman's residence on February 22 and 26, 2024, resulting in the seizure of 15,000 fentanyl pills, four pounds of fentanyl powder, two pounds of methamphetamine, heroin, $21,600 in cash, and twelve firearms.

Christman pleaded guilty to possession with intent to distribute fentanyl on February 4, 2025. This case was investigated by the FBI, the Multnomah County Sheriff's Office, and the Gresham Police Department, and was prosecuted by Nicole M. Hermann, Assistant U.S. Attorney for the District of Oregon.

Fentanyl is a synthetic opioid 80 to 100 times more powerful than morphine and 30 to 50 times more powerful than heroin. A 2-milligram dose of fentanyl—a few grains of the substance—is enough to kill an average adult male. The wide availability of illicit fentanyl in Oregon has caused a dramatic increase in overdose deaths throughout the state.
