Johnstown Man Indicted on Drug Charge
A 30-year-old resident of Johnstown, Pennsylvania, has been indicted by a federal grand jury in Pittsburgh on charges of violating federal drug laws. Calvin Berkins, Jr. is facing serious consequences for his alleged actions.
According to the indictment, on or about October 24, 2018, Berkins possessed with intent to distribute less than 28 grams of cocaine base, a schedule II controlled substance. This is a serious offense that carries severe penalties.
The law provides for a maximum total sentence of up to 30 years in prison, a fine of not more than $2,000,000, or both. Under the Federal Sentencing Guidelines, the actual sentence imposed would be based upon the seriousness of the offenses and the prior criminal history, if any, of the defendant.
