Cameron Lee Richard Carr, Methamphetamine and Fentanyl Distribution, Montana 2024
In a stark reminder of the ongoing struggle against illicit narcotics, Kalispell resident Cameron Lee Richard Carr has been handed a substantial prison term for his role in a complex drug trafficking operation on the Blackfeet Indian Reservation.
Carr, 34, was found guilty of possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine and fentanyl in September 2024 and was subsequently sentenced to 128 months in prison to be followed by 5 years of supervised release by Chief U.S. District Judge Brian Morris in Great Falls, Montana.
The investigation, led by the FBI, DEA, Blackfeet Law Enforcement Services, and the Glacier County Sheriff’s Office, revealed a sophisticated network of drug traffickers with ties to Kalispell and the Blackfeet Indian Reservation. On November 28, 2023, Carr was apprehended by a Blackfeet Law Enforcement Services officer after fleeing a traffic stop in Browning, Montana.
During the search of Carr’s vehicle, law enforcement recovered 11 additional firearms, 500 grams of methamphetamine, 168 grams of fentanyl in pill and powder form, and small amounts of heroin, oxycodone, morphine, and cocaine. Carr later admitted to distributing drugs in Browning during an interview with law enforcement on December 1, 2023.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office prosecuted the case under the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETF) program, which targets high-level criminal organizations using a prosecutor-led, intelligence-driven, multi-agency approach. The investigation was conducted under the OCDETF program, which aims to disrupt and dismantle large-scale drug trafficking operations.
