Carlos C. Hill, Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, Pennsylvania 2013

Harrisburg Man Faces Justice for Violent Crime

A Harrisburg man has been sentenced to 235 months in prison for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and possession of a stolen firearm, announced the United States Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Pennsylvania.

Carlos C. Hill, 42, was found guilty of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon in March 2013 after a jury trial. The charges against Hill arose from an incident in which he brandished a stolen firearm at a female victim in the 1600 Block of Park Street in Harrisburg.

The firearm was subsequently recovered by the Harrisburg Police Bureau. Hill was indicted by a federal grand jury on September 26, 2012, after an investigation conducted by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, and Harrisburg Police Bureau.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Meredith A. Taylor. In addition to the prison term, Senior Judge Rambo also ordered that Hill be supervised by a probation officer for five years following his release from prison.

The United States Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Pennsylvania announced the sentencing in a statement, highlighting the on-going partnership between the Dauphin County District Attorney’s Office and the U.S. Attorney’s Office to respond to a surge of violent crime within the city.

“The sentencing of Carlos Hill is a significant step forward in our efforts to reduce violent crime in Harrisburg,” said United States Attorney Peter Smith. “This case demonstrates the commitment of our office and our law enforcement partners to hold accountable those who engage in violent behavior.”

The sentencing of Carlos Hill serves as a reminder of the consequences of violent crime in Harrisburg and the commitment of law enforcement to bring perpetrators to justice.
