Carlos M. Johnson, Methamphetamine Distribution, Illinois 2021
A Cahokia Heights man has been sentenced to 10 years in federal prison for distributing methamphetamine in 2021.
Carlos M. Johnson, 49, received the sentence in a U.S. District courtroom on Monday for his role in distributing methamphetamine in January 2021.
Johnson was also sentenced to 87 months in prison for a separate charge of possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance. This sentence is to be served concurrently with his 120-month sentence for distributing methamphetamine.
Johnson was also sentenced to 87 months in prison for being a felon in possession of a firearm, which will also be served concurrently with his other sentences.
Johnson must pay a fine of $300 and special assessments of $300. Following his release from federal prison, he will be subject to five years of supervised release.
The investigation into Johnson's activities was conducted by the Drug Enforcement Administration, and Assistant U.S. Attorney John Trippi prosecuted the case. The case was part of an Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETF) operation.
