Carlos Rodriguez, 32, Pleads Guilty to Fentanyl Trafficking Charges

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - In a shocking turn of events, Carlos Rodriguez, a 32-year-old Providence man, pleaded guilty in federal court in Rhode Island for his role in a fentanyl trafficking conspiracy.

According to court documents, Rodriguez was involved in the distribution of fentanyl pills, and the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) Safe Streets Task Force was conducting an investigation into drug trafficking in and around the Providence area.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorneys Stacey A. Erickson and Peter I. Roklan. The matter was investigated by the Rhode Island FBI Safe Streets Task Force, which consists of agents and law enforcement officers from the FBI, the Rhode Island State Police, the Cranston, Woonsocket, Pawtucket, West Warwick, and Central Falls Police Departments, the U.S. Marshals Service, and the Rhode Island Department of Corrections.

Under the terms of the plea agreement, Rodriguez will be sentenced on August 18, 2026. The sentence imposed will be determined by a federal district judge after consideration of the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and other statutory factors.

Rodriguez faces a mandatory minimum sentence of five years imprisonment, a maximum sentence of 40 years imprisonment, and a term of at least four years to life of supervised release.
