Carlos Rosario, Murder, New York 2019

Two members of the Mac Baller Brims gang, Derrick Casado and Carlos Rosario, have been charged with murder in connection with a robbery in Manhattan that left one victim dead.

According to the Superseding Indictment, on October 5, 2019, Casado and Rosario robbed two victims in the vicinity of 20 East 116th Street in New York, New York. During the robbery and the immediate flight therefrom, Rosario shot and killed a third victim, Jonathan Rodriguez, 27.

The Mac Baller Brims gang, which operated in and around the Mount Hope section of the Bronx between 2017 and 2019, was a criminal enterprise that committed numerous acts of violence, including shootings, to preserve and protect their power, territory, and profits.

Casado and Rosario are charged with offenses relating to the October 5, 2019 robbery, including murder. The case is proceeding before U.S. District Judge J. Paul Oetken.

Acting U.S. Attorney Audrey Strauss said, 'As charged in the Superseding Indictment, Carlos Rosario and Derrick Casado were responsible for the murder of Jonathan Rodriguez. This is one of many acts of violence alleged to have been committed by members and associates of the Mac Baller Brims gang.'

The charges against Casado and Rosario include murder, racketeering conspiracy, and other crimes related to the Mac Baller Brims gang's activities.

The case is a result of an ongoing investigation by the NYPD, HSI, and DEA, with the assistance of the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Southern District of New York.
