Carmen Liseno, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, West Virginia 2017

A 36-year-old man from Cabins, West Virginia, has been sentenced to 92 months in prison for a firearms charge, according to U.S. Attorney Bill Powell.

Carmen Liseno, a convicted felon, was found in possession of a .40 caliber pistol in Grant County in December 2017.

Liseno pleaded guilty to one count of 'Unlawful Possession of a Firearm' in May 2019. His previous felony convictions, coupled with his current charge, led to a lengthy prison sentence.

Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), a Department of Justice initiative, brought the case to light. PSN aims to reduce violent crime through evidence-based programs and partnerships with local communities.

Prosecutor Danae DeMasi-Lemon led the case on behalf of the government, with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the Grant County Sheriff's Department providing key support.

In the courtroom, U.S. District Judge Thomas S. Kleeh oversaw the proceedings. Liseno's case serves as a prime example of PSN's focus on holding violent offenders accountable.

While many may view this case as a singular event, it represents a broader effort to combat gun violence and reduce crime in West Virginia. Liseno's 92-month sentence highlights the importance of addressing the root causes of violence and working together to create safer communities.
